The NAMI CVA Effect!

As 2020 comes to a close, we wanted to leave some words of encouragement and appreciation in a short video we call: The NAMI CVA Effect! Hear from our members' testimonials about their first encounter with NAMI, and some hopeful messaging from the NAMI CVA staff as we look forward to 2021. We are thankful for the support of our Central Virginia community and cannot wait to see what the future holds!

Words From Our Members - Darryl Matthews

In the fifth installment of our 'Words From Our Members' video series, we feature Darryl Matthews! Darryl has been an In Our Own Voice Presenter for over ten years, and has inspired audiences all across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Hear him speak candidly about Bipolar Disorder Type 1, coping skills that jumpstarted his recovery, and how NAMI Central Virginia taught him to advocate against the very stigma he faced from people in his life.

Online Programs Supported By The Community Foundation

NAMI CVA has done a lot of reorganizing to support our communities' mental health needs this year. As a result, all of our groups and classes were moved to a virtual format. The costs associated with the reformatting was supported by a grant from The Behavioral Health Fund of The Community Foundation. We thank you for helping us carry out our work, and supporting people with lived mental health experience!

NAMI Central Virginia

On this day, we reflect on the immeasurable impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and his advocacy for racial justice & equality. When it comes to agents of change, Dr. King is among the greatest. He has inspired millions of people in the U.S. and around the world to advocate for the causes they truly believe in. Dr. King's legacy resonates well with NAMI affiliates across the country, as we continue to advocate for equitable treatment of individuals living with mental illness.

Have a safe and happy holiday!
