The NAMI CVA Effect!
As 2020 comes to a close, we wanted to leave some words of encouragement and appreciation in a short video we call: The NAMI CVA Effect! Hear from our members' testimonials about their first encounter with NAMI, and some hopeful messaging from the NAMI CVA staff as we look forward to 2021. We are thankful for the support of our Central Virginia community and cannot wait to see what the future holds!
Register for Family to Family Education
This free eight-session course is for family members and/or caregivers of individuals with mental illness. Family-to-Family discusses treatment for common mental illnesses and teaches skills that families need to cope when their loved one is experiencing crisis and relapse. It also provides guidance on how to locate appropriate supports and services within the community, communicating effectively, and expressing understanding and empathy for loved ones living with mental illnesses.
The next online class begins on Monday, February 22nd at 6:00 P.M. Visit the Family to Family page on our site to learn more and sign up!
Words From Our Members - Darryl Matthews
In the fifth installment of our 'Words From Our Members' video series, we feature Darryl Matthews! Darryl has been an In Our Own Voice Presenter for over ten years, and has inspired audiences all across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Hear him speak candidly about Bipolar Disorder Type 1, coping skills that jumpstarted his recovery, and how NAMI Central Virginia taught him to advocate against the very stigma he faced from people in his life.
